DJ Shorty George
Dancing & loving Lindy Hop, Balboa, & Blues since November 2004, Shorty George travels for dance – 1 year in Australia, 1 year in Holland, 3 months in Iceland, now in Turkey since 2012. Living like a gypsy, he toured Europe in 2009 for 11 weeks, part of it dancing in the streets alongside a gypsy folk jazz band – the Cangelosi Cards.
Hot & slow or hot & fast, international DJ Shorty George plays to get people dancing, jockeying tunes produced by artists from all over the world. He’s regularly DJed fast dance nights, weekly social dances, and blues parties in New York City, Amsterdam, Reykjavík & Istanbul.
Interesting tidbit, through his webcam & Skype (sort of), Shorty George DJed from New York to Amsterdam, and also from Istanbul to Barcelona. Anything more, just check out shortygeorge.com.
DJ Reverend Turner
Matt has been collecting and playing music for decades. For him, it’s the thrill of finding the right sounds to propel people onto the dance floor and keep them there that feeds his musical passion. DJ co-ordinator at Herrang, European Swing Dance Championships, DJ’ing swing, balboa, blues across the UK and Europe, as well as Funk & Soul, and ‘vintage remixed’ - Matt’s unique blend of tunes from the 20’s - 40’s in conjunction with those that echo swing from beyond the swing era, make his a set not to be missed! Playing music and dancing started as a hobby has now turned into something else - alongside dancing, DJ’ing and heading up DJ workshops, Matt runs Decadent Times, an event and performer agency, with a passion for supporting present days artists, DJ’s, dancers and hot musicians, giving them air time and recognition for their skills. Working alongside Greenpeace at Glastonbury Festival in 2015 was a proud moment for Matt as ‘Swing Dancing’ now appears on the line-up for the first time since the festival began in 1970. His dedication to the swing scene and his energy to promote quality DJ’ing and music knows no bounds.
